I get them when I get hot flashes, and I get them just randomly too.

I don't like keep taking advil, but its the only thing that sort of helps. I find tylenol doesn't touch them.

Lately though, I have found if I have a hot cup of strong chamomile tea before bed, that it seems to relax everything and I don't get them as much and I sleep better.

So, it is possible that these headaches are caused by lack of sleep. So, try the chamomile tea approach. Just don't drink it when you need to be alert, because it does make you sleepy. You can get different flavors of it, I like the Tetley Lemon Chamomile tea, it tastes nice, and is very relaxing.

Tips for Hot Flashes

Here are a couple of tips that have helped me with hot flashes..

1. Freeze your pillow case in a bag, then put on your pillow just before bed!

2. Fill a clean sock with oats, and freeze. It should remain pliable, and you can put it across your eyes or forehead to keep you cool. This also works well for menopause headaches, which tend to accompany hot flashes.

3. Put a few drops of lavender on your pillow case. This will help you go to sleep and stay asleep, and hopefully sleep through your hot flashes!

Menopause Relief

Everywhere you turn, there are ads for menopause relief. Before you spend all that money on the hopes there is a magic pill out there.. don't!

At the end of the day, you have to decided which symptoms are affecting your life the most. Some people suffer from severe headaches, some from fatigue, some have hot flashes that are so intense, they swear they have the flu (me!)

But sometimes just a few changes in your diet can help, along with some exercises, such as yoga, or walking, will all help.

Personally I found adding soy milk to my daily routine, cut my hot flashes in half, and they are still decreasing. I tried different brands until I found one I liked and I cooked my morning oatmeal with it, and found it to be quite tasty, or make a smoothie with soy milk, fruit and plain yogurt.

There have been studies in Japan that show Asian women do not suffer from menopausal symptoms the same way North American women do. The difference? They eat a lot of soy products.

Soy products contain "isoflavones" which act like natural estrogen, which seems to control menopause symptoms.

If you don't like the taste of soy, then try the soy milk products, and incorporate them into your day in cereals, smoothies and more. See if they help.

I found you just have to try different things. I know stress makes my hot flashes worse, so the extra exercise I have been doing, helps with that..

Is Menopause Cramping Your Style?

Are you dealing with Menopause?.. Considering this is suppose to be a natural part of life, I am not surprised it was whispered "the change" during my Grandmother's time!

If this sounds like you, and you are considering an HRT prescription.. take a look at this ebook I found first. The ovaries stop producing estrogen and menstruation ceases. Once this happens the body goes through a period of adjustment to the reduced hormone levels, which is why some women experience symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings. The onset of menopause usually occurs between the ages of 40 to 60 and lasts anywhere from six to thirteen years with diminishing symptoms as time passes.

Menopause is usually diagnosed by symptoms alone, but a blood test can also be preformed to confirm the diagnosis. If you suspect the onset of menopause you should see your doctor immediately.

Early Menopause Symptoms: Pre-Menopause

When menopause is about to begin, there is usually a span of time where periods become irregular; shorter or longer, heavier or lighter, or occur with uneven frequency. A hot flash is a sudden, intense sensation of warmth that travels through the body and often is accompanied by chills and sweating. Hot flashes can last from 30 seconds to 30 minutes and are often accompanied by a feeling of anxiety.

While there are no known ways to stop a hot flash that has already struck, many women have observed that there are environmental factors that seem to increase the frequency of hot flashes. Those are: Hot and humid weather, anxiety, alcohol, caffeine and other stimulants, spicy foods, and lack of sleep. The use of black cohosh has also been reported to help with hot flashes.

Painful Intercourse

Vaginal thinning and dryness are an unfortunate effect of menopause, especially since they're not always accompanied by a diminished sex drive. The bad news is that the thinning and dryness will continue to increase, the good news is that it can these effects can often be negated through regular sexual intercourse. The phrase "use it or loose it" comes to mind. Personal lubricants can help with the dryness and itchiness.

Bladder Control

When menopause begins, the muscles that surround the bladder begin to weaken and a sense of impending urination or some accidental leakage can result. This can be controlled by exercising these muscles through the use of Kegel exercises. Kegel exercises are designed to strengthen the muscles in your pelvis and can really help with the bladder control problems associated with menopause.

To perform a Kegel exercise, contract your pelvic muscles as if you were trying to tighten your vaginal opening, hold the contraction for a three-count and relax. Follow the link in the previous paragraph for more detailed instructions.

Wrinkles

Your skin becomes more prone to stretch marks and wrinkles during and after menopause due to the body producing less elastin and collagen. Start a daily routine of applying a high quality lotion to your body to keep your skin hydrated and elastic.

Want to know more?
